Bio
Always interested in edging ideas thought art with a personal aesthetic point of view, Jesús Ubera spent a year in New York studying photography at the International Center of Photography. Then, continued his formation in London through one BA and a MA in Photography at the London College of Communication (UAL). In that city he received the "Upcoming photographer" awarded by Design Week and "Editorial Photographer of the year" by Creative Review. Also in London he really pushed his career forward, contributing to Dazed&Confused, while back in his native Madrid he continued working for magazines such as Neo2 and El País Semanal.
His style has caught the eye of prestigious advertising companies such as Saffron and Wolf Ollins, and was hired to develop campaigns for brands like Adidas, Phillips, ONO or EGO. In parallel to his photography career he became visual editor of Spanish lifestyle magazine SALIR during two years. Ubera has also worked as advertising film director, creating commercials for mayor companies such as Phillips, Mahou, Intermon Oxfam or Adidas.
Art-wise, he opened his first solo photo exhibition at prestigious Oliva Arauna Gallery, in Madrid, and his work has appeared in different art books, amongst them Salida ( Alpha Decay): an experimental and existential photobook with texts by Héctor Castells.
Six years ago Ubera started sharing his passion for fashion films at the Instituto Europe di Design in Madrid, teaching at the Master of Fashion and Communication.
Fashion, music and advertisement are the passions of his life that he skillfully projects in the fashion films he directs as well as in his advertisement and photographing assignments.
Jesús is now based in Brussels, while working in different countries throughout Europe.
